How does Amoxil work?
Amoxil works in fighting off infection within the body by targeting the cause of it in the form of bacteria.
These commonly cause infections of the ear, the bladder and other organs, pneumonia, stomach infections like E.
coli and salmonella, and sexual diseases like gonorrhea.
Amoxil is used in other occasions for treating certain stomach ulcers due to helicobacter pylori infection,
in combination with clarithromycin, and sometimes lansoprazole.
How to take Amoxil.
Amoxil may be available in capsule or oral suspension form.
The intake of the drug should be done under the prescription of a health care professional, or under strict observance of the label instructions.
If the medication is being taken with clarithromycin or lansoprazole in the treatment for stomach ulcer, take all the medicines as prescribed.
Amoxil may be taken with or without prior food intake, with a tall glass of water if necessary.
The oral suspension should be shaken well before the dose is measured, and may be directly taken,
or mixed with other liquid drinks. The chewable tablet must be chewed before ingestion. The dispersible tablet must be dissolved in two teaspoons of water before intake.
Side Effects.
Immediately seek medical help if bloody and severe diarrhea, and abdominal cramps are experienced.
If an allergic reaction, seizure, and unusual bruising and bleeding are acquired, discontinue use and contact a physician.
Maintain intake and seek medical advice in the presence of mild nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea;
thrush; itching and vaginal discharge; and a sore mouth and tongue.
Precautions and Interactions.
Antibiotic medications can lead to diarrhea, which can be an indication of another infection.
Patients who experience diarrhea which is watery or which contains blood should seek medical advice from a doctor.
Intake of medicines to stop the diarrhea is strongly discouraged unless it is under the prescription of a doctor.
There are at present no restrictions regarding food and beverage intake and activity during the treatment with Amoxil, unless instructed by a doctor.
The medications which may interact with the effectiveness of Amoxil include allopurinol, probenecid, pills for birth control, neomycin, and methotrexate.
Missed Dose.
In case of a missed intake of Amoxil, it should be taken as soon as necessary, after such, the succeeding doses should adjust
accordingly at evenly-spaced time intervals. Intake of a missed dose should be based upon the condition that the next intake
is not near enough as to cause a double dose. Otherwise, the missed intake should be skipped, and the next one taken according to the usual dosing schedule.
Overdose.
Seek immediate medical help in the presence of these indications of an overdose:
agitation, spasms, confusion, pain or a loss of feeling on the fingers and toes, seizures, and coma.
Storage.
Store Generic Amoxil within room temperature, away from direct heat.
